Here is an image Elio did just before he started producing the eight sample pages we took to San Diego Comic Con in the summer. It is a panel from a scene in our first chapter where the Worm has found himself hanging upside down. It was a really strong image to get started with and I think it got us both excited to see some final pages.

THE SUIT

This is one of the first designs for a suit our character will be wearing later in the second volume of El Grande. It is an upgrade from his suit in the beginning of the story, but it retains some of the same design elements.

EL GRANDE

Hi everyone. This is going to be a blog dedicated to a comic book project called "EL GRANDE." It was created by Elio Guevara and myself (Joe Karg), and we have been developing it for nearly one year.

"EL GRANDE" is a science fiction, neo-noir story presented in a 200+ page, color, original graphic novel format. Due to the nature of the language and brief nudity, it is a book for mature audiences. Though this is an adventure book, it is not attempting to compete with the superhero books that flood the market.

Set in the near future, the world is devastated by pollution and filth. Only one populated city remains. Built atop the Amazon Rainforest, Bramacas is ground zero for corruption and oppression which leads to a revolution.

We follow this journey singularly through the eyes of a man known as The Worm. Once a formidable mountain climber, he presently lacks the fortitude to even climb out of the bottle. His days are spent losing himself in the desolate environment of the stack—a fifty-mile high atmospheric smog extractor.
Upon his discovery of a seemingly ancient tribe hidden within the dense, techno-laden machinery, The Worm is launched into a series of catastrophic events. Driven by his love for a woman who he does not know, he systematically becomes integral to the downfall of the city.
